ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY RESEARCH PARKS CANADA ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Ontario – Today, McMaster Innovation Park (MIP) announced that from May 29 to 31, it will host the annual Association of
University Research Parks Canada (AURP Canada) annual conference. Research park leaders from across the country will gather at MIP to discuss the role of Canada’s research parks throughout Canadian society.
The AURP Canada’s President, Carol Stewart, will be the conference spokesperson, while multiple guest speakers from Canada’s research and innovation community will be featured throughout the event. MIP’s Zach Douglas will be one of the
speakers, along with Mark Chamberlain of Trivaris, Ty Shattuck of PV Labs, and Ron Neumann of the Innovations Factory. The event will also feature the Cities of Innovation Dinner, where mayors Bob Bratina (Hamilton), Brenda Halloran (Waterloo),
and Karen Farbridge (Guelph), will discuss the benefits of research parks partnering with municipal governments.
“We’re delighted to host the upcoming AURP Canada conference,” says Zach Douglas, President and CEO, MIP. “It will provide
MIP, McMaster University, and the City of Hamilton a tremendous opportunity to show Canada’s top research park leaders how MIP is helping to transform ideas into sustainable business.”
Workshop sessions throughout the course of the event will provide attendees with expert advice on funding, research
acceleration, and bringing innovations to a global market. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory at MIP, and to visit nearby research parks including Toronto’s MaRS Technology District, the University of Guelph Research Park, and Waterloo’s Research and Technology Park.
