McMaster Innovation Park
MIP's 10th Anniversary
MIP is a 50 acre brownfield research and innovation development aligned with the research strengths of McMaster University. It transformed what was once the site of Westinghouse/Camco Warehouse and Manufacturing plants into a premier university research park. In doing so, MIP has remained cognizant of the site's tradition as a centre of innovation and manufacturing for over 100 years.
MIP strives to develop and sustain an environment that facilitates and accelerates innovation, the transfer of knowledge and the commercialization of research resulting in economic and social development, as well as encourages collaboration amongst private sector, government, researchers and educators. In order to do so, MIP plans to have ten state-of-the-art LEED certified buildings, sustainable landscape infrastructures and open spaces within the next 10 years.
Currently, there are three buildings at MIP; The Atrium, CanmetMATERIALS, and McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC). By the end of 2017 the next building is expected to open, the Centre for Biomedical Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (BEAM).
