McMaster Innovation Park
The Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair continues to be a thriving success.
The Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair is a competition to all grade seven through twelve students from Hamilton, Halton Region, Haldimand County, Norfolk County, Brant County and Six Nations. Students may attend any public, separate or private school or be home schooled. Participants must be under the age of 21 before June of the BASEF year.
There is no entry fee to participate but over $150,000 in cash, trips and scholarships are awarded ever year.
McMaster Innovation Park President & CEO Zach Douglas also serves as the Honorary Chair of the fair. "For me, the opportunity to see up close the work these young people have put into their experiments and presentations is truly inspiring and very reassuring for the future" says Zach. "Much has been said recently about the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine (or STEM) as critical resources for meeting the challenges we face as a society today. I would like to say that I share that view and I encourage all of you to seriously consider further education and careers in these disciplines".
McMaster Innovatio Park sees great value in our association with BASEF. We support the incubation of ideas and the transformation of knowledge into new products and services which help to create economic benefits and jobs for the Bay area.
At MIP there are a number of entities like the Innovation Factory and The Forge who help with all that goes into commercializing a product or starting a business, and we take great pride in our innovation ecosystem.
It is events like BASEF that truly inspire students and discover their passions within these sectors. We wish nothing but continued success for all the brilliant young minds that participate every year. If you are interested in learning more about BASEF please visit their website here.
