Mark Carney visit to MIP
During the federal Liberal leadership race, Mark Carney came to Hamilton to speak to several hundred supporters in The Atrium at McMaster Innovation Park on Tuesday, February 18th.
He told the crowd that in the midst of affordability and housing issues, U.S.-imposed tariffs and President Donald Trump’s talk of annexation of Canada as a 51st state, that this year’s federal election “will be the most important in our lifetime.”
Past and present local, provincial and municipal politicians, business and civic leaders, and MIP tenants listened to the former governor of the Bank of Canada speak for about 20 minutes. In addition to meeting with and answering questions to attendees, Carney also had the opportunity to tour the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC) and see how McMaster and Canada are leading in the development of groundbreaking technologies related to electrification that is transforming the industry.
